Lionel Messi sent special Christmas gifts to 160 players on his special occasion.

There are still some in Argentina who are reminiscing about the triumph that occurred in Qatar a little over a year ago, and Messi could not ask for much for Christmas now that he has won the World Cup.

However, he has a track record of bestowing Christmas presents rather than receiving them; in 2020, he distributed a token of his own festive joy to several opponents. Prior to Christmas of that year, Lionel Messi scored 644 goals for Barcelona, surpassing Pele’s official Santos record. To commemorate the achievement, Messi enlisted the assistance of Budweiser.

Messi presented a personalized bottle of lager to each of the 160 goalkeepers he had defeated since 2005 in order to reach the monumental milestone. The number of bottles each goalkeeper received was proportional to the number of goals they conceded to the legendary magician, who is currently employed by Paris Saint-Germain.

As a result, Diego Alves was granted the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in style by receiving twenty-one bottles that were custom-made. Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas was awarded seventeen goals, while Thibaut Courtois, his long-term counterpart, was awarded nine.

Thirteen players who were active in the Premier League at the time received bottles; among them were several familiar figures. David de Gea of Manchester United, Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart of Tottenham, and Alisson of Liverpool all received two bottles. Both Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon and Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak thanked Messi on social media for their unexpected gift.
